PMA A-NZ Media Release

PMA Australia-New Zealand is delighted to announce that the fourth round of the Mark Blue Scholarship has awarded another future leader in fresh produce.

Established in 2015, the Mark Blue Scholarship was developed to help further young people's careers in the fresh produce and floral industries through education, networking and personal development. Before his untimely death in late 2014, Mark Blue was incredibly passionate about the industry and did so much to encourage the next generation to develop a career in the industry.

PMA A-NZ, in association with Rand Transport, CHEP Australia, Avanti Fresh, Barkers Fresh Produce and Sydney Markets established the Mark Blue Scholarship to honour the late Mark Blue and his commitment to the younger generation in the industry.

The selection committee is proud to announce that the recipient of the fourth round of Mark Blue Scholarships is Matthew Crouch from Freshmax who will use the scholarship to complete a Strategic Brand Leadership course at the Melbourne Business School.

“Matthew has is an extremely high achieving marketer and it is a great pleasure to award a Mark Blue Scholarship to him” said Darren Keating, CEO at PMA A-NZ. “Matthew has already accomplished so much over the past few years including winning the 2016 Marketer of the Year Award for his Sumo Citrus brand awareness marketing campaign. We are thrilled to be able to support Matthew’s continued career growth.”

Matthew started his marketing career in 2010 after having worked in various roles across the UK and Australia. After two and a half years with Freshmax, Mr Crouch was promoted to Group Marketing Manager, overseeing all marketing across Australia and New Zealand. “This role encompasses a far greater strategic influence than my previous one. The Strategic Brand Leadership qualification will help to support me into this leadership position and will certainly ensure I make the most of the opportunities this role presents to me and to Freshmax” said Mr Crouch.

“I’m thrilled to be the seventh recipient and winner of the fourth Mark Blue Scholarship. I want to see the Australian Fresh Produce industry flourish. We have so much ground to make up on other grocery categories in marketing innovation, but I see this as an opportunity. The field is wide open for change, and I want to be a part of the wave that makes it happen” he said.

The fifth round of Mark Blue Scholarship will open in July 2017
