Country of Origin Food Labelling
The Country of Origin Labelling (Standard 1.2.11 of the Food Standards Code) is applicable only in Australia. It applies to foods for retail sale and also food sold to catering stablishments in catering packs.
Daily Intake Guide Labelling Style Guide
The Australian Food and Grocery Council (AFGC) launched the Daily Intake Guide (DIG) Labelling Scheme in November 2006. Since then it has been adopted by more than 80 brands and appears on over 1100 products. This site provides a link to the latest DIG Style Guide. It details what is required of food companies choosing to use the DIG scheme.
Date Marking Guide on Use By and Best Before
This guide has been developed by the Australian Food and Grocery Council, in consultation with food manufacturers and retailers, as an aid to the food industry in deciding whether packaged food should have a best before or use by date.
GS1 standards for Numbering and Barcoding of pre packaged goods, non retail trade items and logistics units
The Fresh Produce Industry has adopted the GS1 standards for Numbering and Barcoding of pre packaged goods, non retail trade items and logistics units. In addition GS1 Australia manages on behalf of industry, Price Look Up Codes and a catalogue of National Global Trade Item Numbers for Non Retail Trade Units of Loose Produce.
