China's digital transformation: The Internet's impact on productivity, growth

In 2010, China's Internet economy stood at 3.3 percent of its GDP, lagging behind most advanced economies. By 2013, it had reached 4.4 percent, moving China into the ranks of the global leaders. A report from the McKinsey Global Institute was developed to highlight the transition China is expected to make from a consumer oriented Internet to a more enterprise driven landscape.

The role of agricultural robotics in fresh produce

Agricultural robotics is quickly improving and changing the face of the produce industry. It deals with the design, construction, operation and application of robots and related computer and control systems in agriculture. WinterGreen Research forecasts the agricultural robotics market size to grow from $817 million in 2013 to $16.3 billion by 2020.

Study: Global online browsing, buying rates vary

According to a new study by Nielsen, consumable products have a strong online browse-to-buy correlation (a one-to-one ratio) among consumers. Thirty percent of respondents stated they browse groceries online, while 27% stated they buy. In addition, PMA has purchased a report for members from The Hartman Group titled Digital Food Life.

China’s approved list of fresh fruit imports

China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine updated its approved list of fresh fruit imports as of Sept. 2014. Washington apples and Israeli citrus are just two of several new fresh fruit items listed.
