UQ student Reannan Schultz guest blogs following her PMA Fresh Summit experience
Pack Family Career Pathways - Fresh Summit 2015
Reannan was awarded a PMA scholarship to attend PMA Fresh Summit in Atlanta, USA as a participant in the 2015 Pack Family Career Pathways Program.
We caught up with her following the event to find out about her experience.
What were the highlights of your PMA Fresh Summit and Pack Family Career Pathways Program experience?
I thought the whole thing was a great experience, but a highlight for me was the exposition. It displayed the scale of the industry by showcasing the range of businesses involved in the supply chain.
Has participating in the Pack Family Career Pathways Program changed how you view the fresh produce industry?
Yes, definitely! It has provided me with an unparalleled insight into the produce industry that I never knew existed.
What's next for you?
A company which sponsored my experience to the Fresh Summit has offered me full time employment as a Grower Liaison in the mango industry. I look forward to beginning this role and seeing what the future holds!
How valuable was this experience to you?
Very much so! This experience has made it possible to network and form industry connections which will complement my personal development within the industry. I’ve learnt many valuable skills along the way and I would definitely recommend it to any young people coming into the agriculture industry.
The Pack Family Career Pathways Program is an initiative of the PMA Foundation for Industry Talent.
